| Owners Notes: |
James Dean would have loved this one. Heck, he would still
be driving this car if he wasn't dead already. Then again.... James would
quickly point out that this Carrera GT is but just one of forty-two built in 1957
and only one of twelve in this body configuration. Even more amazing, this Carrera
has a factory steel hard top.
Research tells us that Porsche
® manufactured three or four of these
hardtops for GT Speedsters that were raced in inclement weather.
Porsche® soon realized that the weight
differential was detrimental and aftermarket fiberglass examples soon prospered,
some of which are still readily available, although not inexpensive.
We at the Taj consider ourselves to be timekeepers of this unique masterpiece.
This particular four cam has original matching numbers engine and transmission,
Nardi wheel, factory rollbar, GT fuel tank, race kit and date stamped alloy wheels.
There is more, but enough is enough. The photos just don't do the car justice.
How many original shots of Marilyn Monroe still exist?
The next time you find
yourself in the Buckeye State, please let us know. This one is worth the stop
even if your spouse makes you eat at Cracker Barrel. However, if you are flying
solo there is a BP close by specializing in "tube steak du jour."
